Building Good Habits and Staying on Track

Lately, I’ve been working hard to refocus on building good habits. It’s incredible how much of a difference these small daily actions can make in our lives. But let’s be real—it takes constant effort to stay on top of everything that keeps us feeling like our best selves. Life has a way of pulling us in all directions, and it’s easy to let the demands of everyday life overshadow the routines that truly make us our best self.

1. Reset Often—It’s Part of the Process

Staying consistent with habits that make us feel good is an ongoing journey. Sometimes, life changes, or we fall out of a routine, and that’s okay! When this happens, give yourself permission to:

  • Reset and start again, even if you’ve stopped for a while.
  • Tweak your approach to suit your current lifestyle.
  • Remember that building habits is a flexible journey, not a strict rulebook.

For me, one challenge is avoiding the easy route, like binging TV every evening. While there’s definitely a time for that, I know doing it every day doesn’t serve me well.

2. Start Each Day with Gratitude to Boost Your Mindset

I’ve found that starting my day with gratitude journaling is a powerful way to set a positive tone for the day. It’s a small habit, but it helps to:

  • Create positive intentions and a motivated mindset for the day.
  • Ground yourself with a focus on what you appreciate.

To make it easy, I created a printable gratitude journal page that you can use daily. You can also download it as an image and use it in a Word document or other editing platform to write on, if you prefer.

3. Track Your Daily Habits to Stay Motivated

To keep up with good routines, I created a habit-tracking page. This page allows you to set as many daily habits as you like and mark each one as you complete it. Tracking is helpful for:

  • Staying accountable to your goals.
  • Motivating yourself with a visible record of your efforts.
  • Building momentum as you check off each completed habit.

These habits can be anything from remembering to floss, to going for a daily walk. Tracking your habits provides that little extra encouragement to stick with what makes you feel your best.
